About the Artist ~ Chuck Ludwigsen
Thank you for your interest in my woodturning. I first started turning in 1998 while visiting a family friend in Branson, MO. I still have those first two candlesticks on a shelf. You could say woodturning has become part of my DNA. I thank God every day for giving me this creative outlet in my life.
I have had the opportunity to learn from many highly-accomplished and talented woodturners - too many to list without inadvertantly leaving off someone who deserves to be named as well. This is in part due to the fantastic organization, The American Association of Woodturners, and their local chapters. Through a four week demonstration by a former high school teacher, Dick Absher, I had the good fortune of joining the Midsouth Woodturner's Guild early in their club existence. I later helped lead the guild as 1st Vice President and editor of their website and newsletter. I am thankful to all of the club and special guest demonstrators who guided me through the years.
I currently reside on a small island off the gulf coast of Southwest Florida called Marco Island. The nearest club is a decent drive north, but I'm rapidly finding other like-minded artists in the immediate area. The popularity of this art form is due mainly to the sharing mindset of the community of artists.
